Here is what Meals on Wheels does:

- Delivers more than 35,000 hot meals to seniors every year;
- Provides daily personal contact with each senior;
- Provides balanced, nutritional meals to our clients at far below cost.

Our meals, which receive rave reviews, are delicious, nutritious and tailored to meet the special dietary needs of our clients. While we employ a small staff, we couldn’t survive without our more than 250 volunteers, who help prepare and deliver meals to seniors from Eighty Four to South Fayette, sometimes driving routes as long as 40 miles and braving the elements to reach seniors in remote locations.

For 44 years, Meals on Wheels @ the Crossroads has been GRACIOUSLY supported by community donations! We do not receive any government assistance.

Our Area of Service

McMurray, Venetia, Finleyville, Lawrence, Canonsburg, Muse, Houston, Hendersonville, part of Eighty Four, part of Bethel Park, part of Upper St. Clair, Bridgeville borough and part of South Fayette Township.

Delivery

Meals are delivered each day by volunteer drivers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. We deliver all weekdays, including holidays, except for the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas when we are closed. In those two cases, we provide an extra meal on the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas for use on the day after. Meals are brought into the house, unless we are instructed otherwise. Although we prefer to see and check on the client directly, we can leave the meals in a cooler outside if no one can come to the door.

Payment

Drivers collect payment on Monday for the coming week. Having cash or check (payable to Meals on Wheels @ the Crossroads) ready will be appreciated. Payment can be made by the month if preferred and may be mailed to us.

Holidays

We deliver all weekdays, including holidays, except for the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas when we are closed. In those two cases, we provide an extra meal on the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas for use on the day after.

Bad Weather

In case of snowy or icy roads, meals will not be delivered. We announce cancellations on KDKA TV, WTAE TV, WPXI TV and our web site. A credit will be given for each day missed for weather.

Cancellation

If a meal is not needed for any reason, we would appreciate 24 hours notice. For a last-minute change, please call by 7 a.m. as otherwise the food has been allocated for the meals.
